We are here to help you through the easy process of resetting your iPad for the new owner, whether it’s an upgrade, a gift, or just time for a new beginning.

Together, we’ll go through this post, explaining the procedures involved in saying goodbye to your iPad and making sure it’s prepared for its new journey. Now that you have your iPad, let’s clean it for the new owner.

How Do I Reset My iPad For A New Owner?

I’ll make this really easy for you guys. Follow the steps, and you will be done in a few minutes.

Step 1: Back Up Important Data

Since the final step will include erasing everything from your iPad, backing up critical data is a crucial step.

You can skip this step as well. You lack any significant information. That being said, you must act upon it if you possess any facts. Generally speaking, there are two ways that you can backup your crucial data.

1.  Through iCloud Backup

Data backups from iCloud are simple and automatic. This is how to use the iCloud service to backup all of your data. (It’s the fastest and easiest method, so it’s my personal preference.)

Here’s how you can use iCloud:

  1. Open Setting and Tap on the left panel with your name
  2. From here, you see a bunch of different options, Tap on iCloud from these options
  3. Now, from here, choose what you want to back up. (Most of them are selected by default.)
  4. Then tap iCloud backup, and it’ll take you to the next slide, where you’ll need to turn on iCloud
  5. Once you turn that iCloud button on, you’ll instantly see an option to backup now
  6. Tap on backup now, and it’ll start to backup

Note:

You can either upgrade your iCloud plan or remove superfluous files from your backup in order to resolve this issue if you’re having trouble backing up because you’ve already used up a lot of space on iCloud.

1.  Through iTunes

Using iTunes is an excellent choice for backing up your data, and it also comes with the added benefit of being completely free!

It is comparable to having an IT-savvy guardian angel watch over your files. Well, obviously, without the wings and halo.

I suppose I should now explain to you how to backup your stuff using iTunes if that’s the case.

  1. Download iTunes on your Windows PC or Macintosh
  2. Update your iPad to the latest software
  3. After doing so, connect your iPad to your computer
  4. Tick options like “This Computer and “Encrypt Local Backup”
  5. Then, select on the icon present at the top-left and click on Back Up Now

Wait until the backup process is complete. Once done, unplug your iPad and get ready to reset it.

Step 2: Signing Out of iCloud

Disabling your iCloud account is preferable. It’s crucial because, when you sell it, you want the new owner to have no issues, and, above all, you don’t want to give them any of your data.

Now that you have a data backup, let’s move on to the factory reset section.

  1. In the setting, tap Generals
  2. Then, scroll down to the bottom until you see Reset
