iPhone 14 Pro vs iPhone 15

Many new features have been added to the most recent iPhone 15 series, but how do they compare to the previous generation Pro model?

After seeing the iPhone 15 in all its beauty, our editor awarded it a 4-star rating and the Trusted Reviews Recommended badge. The newest Apple phone could be difficult to top with the addition of new software and a few hardware upgrades.

However, it would be unwise to disregard the existence of all previous iPhone models. The iPhone 15 has a lot to live up to after the nearly flawless 4.5-star iPhone 14 Pro debuted last year.

We’ll go over everything you need to know about the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15, including all the important distinctions and similarities, to help you put things into perspective and help you choose your next phone.

Design and Screen

With a resolution of 2556 x 1179 pixels, the 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR display is a feature shared by the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 15. Additionally, they both include Dynamic Island, which we thought was a nice substitute for the ugly notch and provided a convenient location to keep pertinent data. Both panels had excellent brightness and were suitable for outdoor usage. Because of support for high definition, colors were faithfully displayed.

The refresh rate is the primary distinction between these panels. The iPhone 14 Pro features Apple ProMotion, whereas the iPhone 15 has a regular refresh rate of 60 Hz. This makes scrolling and swiping more smooth because it enables the panel to ramp up and down as low as 1 Hz. The iPhone 14 Pro variant is the better choice if you’re seeking a high-end screen.

The flat, glossy stainless steel sides and frosted glass back of the iPhone 14 Pro are stylistically identical to those of the iPhone 13 Pro. With a smoother, frosted rear that entirely avoids fingerprints and feels much more grippier than the glass on the iPhone 14, Apple improved the chassis of the iPhone 15, which has been around since the iPhone 11.

Camera

With a 48-megapixel primary sensor, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and two 12-megapixel telephoto sensors with 2x and 3x optical zoom, the iPhone 14 Pro has a triple camera configuration. When we conducted our evaluation, we believed that this was the greatest camera phone available, producing quality images in all circumstances. Compared to the iPhone 13 Pro, it can enter Night Mode much faster, and photos taken during the day appear exceptionally sharp.

The iPhone 15 sports a dual camera configuration in contrast, but Apple has made some significant advancements. Instead of the dedicated telephoto lens found in the Pro versions, it has a 12 MP ultrawide and telephoto sensor with support for 2x digital zoom in addition to the 48-megapixel primary sensor.

Sharper, more detailed photos that may be zoomed in on without losing quality are made possible by the bigger primary sensor.Regardless of the subject, Deep Fusion and Smart HDR—features also found on the iPhone 14 Pro—deliver vivid and oversaturated colors.

iPhone 14 Pro vs iPhone 15: the key differences

The iPhone 15 is largely similar to the iPhone 14 Pro, with a Dynamic Island, the same chipset, and the same screen size. It also has USB-C, but its refresh rate disappoints, and there’s no telephoto camera.

For

  • Dynamic Island
  • 48MP main camera
  • A16 Bionic chipset

Against

  • No zoom lens
  • 60Hz refresh rate
  • Can run a little hot

The iPhone 15 is a peculiar phone in several aspects since it shares many features with the iPhone 14 Pro, such as a chipset, screen size, and Dynamic Island.

So what exactly are the differences between these phones? Which phone is superior all around? We can respond to both of those inquiries because we completed comprehensive reviews of the iPhone 15 and the iPhone 14 Pro.

The main points of similarity and difference between the iPhone 14 Pro and the iPhone 15 are listed here, so you can decide whether to get Apple’s latest model or an older Pro.

IPHONE 14 PRO VS IPHONE 15: PERFORMANCE

Given that they share the same chipset, these two phones are quite close in terms of power. In particular, the A16 Bionic chipset is shared by both devices; however, the A17 Pro chipset has been improved for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max.

Since the iPhone 14 already has 6GB of RAM and there is no word of a RAM upgrade for the iPhone 15, the iPhone 15 most likely has the same amount as the iPhone 14 Pro. However, Apple never makes RAM public, so we can’t be sure yet. However, if power is your top concern, these two phones ought to be just as good.

IPHONE 14 PRO VS IPHONE 15: BATTERY

Although Apple never discloses the battery size of its phones, we are aware that the iPhone 14 Pro has a 3,200mAh battery and that the iPhone 15 is rumored to feature a slightly bigger 3,349mAh battery owing to teardowns.

Although you might assume that would result in longer battery life for the iPhone 15, Apple claims that the iPhone 14 Pro typically has higher battery life than the iPhone 15, lasting up to 23 hours of video playback on a single charge as opposed to 20 hours for the iPhone 15. Interestingly enough, the iPhone 15 seems to have five more hours of audio playback capacity than the iPhone 14 Pro.

Thus, it shouldn’t have too much, and based on our evaluations, both phones usually had a full day of battery life.

When it comes to charging, however, the iPhone 15 may have an advantage over the iPhone 14 Pro because it features a USB-C port as opposed to the latter’s Lightning port. For those who already have a cabinet full of USB-C cables, this will be more handy.

The two phones can charge to 50% capacity with a 20W or greater charger in around 30 minutes, but their actual charging speeds are the same. Additionally, both phones enable up to 15W of wireless charging.

IPHONE 14 PRO VS IPHONE 15: VERDICT

As you can see, there are plenty of similarities between these phones and just as many differences. They have the same screen size and resolution, as well as both having a Dynamic Island, the same chipset, and a similar overall design. They also both have a 48MP main camera as well as 12MP ultra-wide and selfie snappers. However, the iPhone 14 Pro benefits from an extra lens for telephoto shots. The iPhone 14 Pro has a higher refresh rate and a more premium build (with stainless steel used rather than aluminum). The iPhone 15 has advantages too, including USB-C charging and a lower price. With all that in mind, for most people, the iPhone 14 Pro will likely be the better phone overall, but only by a small margin. If price is an issue, then you won’t miss much by choosing the iPhone 15.
